2016 - Wales' Year of Adventure

2016 is Wales’ Year of Adventure, part of a wider campaign to promote Wales as the world’s capital of adventure tourism.

Okay, we’ll admit, we don’t have lakes to surf on the world’s longest zip wire. But adventure means different things to different people – it’s not all about adrenaline.

If you’re thinking of hosting an event as part of the celebrations, then we can help! From adventure-based talks exploring castles, to Welsh literary and music festivals, we are bound to have the perfect venue. You could even embark on a culinary adventure and host your own show or exhibition, featuring the best in Welsh food and drink.

Our Catrin Finch Centre and William Aston Hall are ideal for hosting exhibitions, talks and lectures. The North East Wales Mountaineering Club recently hosted a hugely successful talk by mountaineer Andy Kirkpatrick – described as the Ranulph Fiennes of British Climbing – in the Catrin Finch Centre.

Whatever you’re thinking of doing, please do get in touch and we will be happy to discuss your ideas.

Later in the year our very own Oriel Sycharth Gallery will feature an exhibition entitled Curious Travellers. Exploring the writings of local travel writer Thomas Pennant and his contemporaries, the exhibition will also feature a series of talks, events and walking tours.
